Eng. Carlos Sierra has provided geotechnical engineering consulting services for various private and public funded projects within Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, Barbados, St. Maarten, Dominica, Montserrat, St. Kitts, Nevis, St. Eustatius, Antigua and other Lesser Antilles. He has been involved in high rise buildings, port facilities, marinas, tank storage facilities, refineries, hotels, warehouse structures, roadways and bridges among others. Eng Sierra has worked on numerous projects involving complex subsoil conditions requiring deep foundations, aggregate pier ground improvement, liquefaction mitigation, landslide stabilization, ground anchoring and deep excavations in soft soils, among others. Eng. Sierra has led and interpreted geophysical work including Ground Penetrating Radar, Seismic Refraction, Borehole Seismic and Electrical Resistivity. In addition, he has managed construction vibration monitoring projects, existing structure condition evaluations, concrete repairs and Non Destructive Testing (NDT) of reinforced concrete structures. Eng. Sierra founded our Geotechnical Construction division by completing a series of soil nailing, rock fall stabilization, grouting and micropile construction projects, at different locations within the Caribbean, where Jaca & Sierra delivered these services as turn-key/design-build solution provider.
